Sunday (2-6PM CDT) to lead up to the new daily Dragnet/Adam-12 time slot at 3PM CDT (Wild Wild West was in that slot previously).
MeTV runs lots of old series 24hrs/day, check the schedule tab. It's also available OTA ('Over The Air' broadcast), which is how I get it (no way I would ever pay for teevee, even if anything but sat were available here).

I've been watching some of them for a while, since I didn't pay much attention when I was younger when they were first run network programs.
Some of the programs are most excellent viewing, very thoughtful (like Route 66, Twilight Zone, Naked City, etc.), some are part of the "vast wasteland".
Sunday evening is "Sunday Night Noir" time with some good stuff.
I've been watching/taping the Route 66 episodes lately, they filmed about 5 programs on the Gulf Coast (third aired last night), and it is fascinating to see what Corpus Christi and Port Aransas looked like on film in 1962-3 when I was a teen. Downtown Corpus had just two buildings more than about five floors tall (a neat sequence shot from a helo showed Todd and his Corvette crossing the Harbor Bridge, and panned over downtown CC, cool!)!

Agree that the bits of Dragnet I saw had some thought-provoking themes, but it's tough to watch that Jack Webb preachyness factor that permeates all of his work (ohnoez, reefer madness!!!).

    •  Yes, some of that preachiness is certainly (0+ / 0-)

"Nixonian" to be sure (the late 60's iteration on NBC is interesting since his sidekick is the later "Col. Potter" from MASH, a preachiness of another kind, one I find much more simpatico).

Then again, as I have done before, I challenge all those who think it's perfectly OK to give a kid a gun to justify it to me, a kid that learned to use a gun, but certainly wasn't given one at five years old.

block on MeTV and was stunned to see it was in color (actually the promos last few weeks have been too). I was expecting the old B&W series somehow, which I had actually seen a few of way back when, and listened on the radio too.
Yup, they run MASH too, 6-7PM CDT; great stuff, but I can't hardly watch it for the 15th time again  :].

I can't imagine giving the use of an unrestricted gun to a child either, but proper training in use of them should begin early IMO.

        •  OK, so my challenge to everyone: (0+ / 0-)

"Do you think it should be legal to teach a kid that can barely read to shoot a gun, that is, a four, five, or six year old?"

          Why?
