models of their normal firearms with shorter length of pull and sometimes, actually more often, in the lighter recoiling calibers like .243, you don't see many youth model 7mm Magnums...

And I mean since the 19teens and earlier......

"Youth models": do you think it's OK to market guns to five year olds or the parents of five year old children who are likely to give the gun to five year olds, regardless of levels of supervision?

        •  The only problem I see is the parents not having (0+ / 0-)

kept the rifle locked away except while actually shooting...

I see no problem with the concept of youth rifles that actually fit the shooter or marketing them as such...

I don't think they attempt to market to parents who wont lock up the rifle or who allow a 5yo unrestricted access.....That isn't their demographic any more than it is anyone's....The rifle should have been properly safed by an adult, maybe even pull the bolt though iirc Crickett has an internal bolt lock then locked up till next time not leaned in a corner loaded..........My .22 is out and loaded as yotes are damn fast with one of your hens in their mouth....then again, my kids are grown and gone....

Mine didn't get that till 18 though he had "His own" rifle many years earlier....It was his but lived in my safe except when actually going shooting......
