As many people here seem to think.

    Good technology rarely does.

    Einstein was right, 98% perspiration.

    •  Oh my goodness! It's a staircase! (0+ / 0-)

Good technology sometimes comes a whole lot faster than easier than people think it will.

Compare mobile phones in 1993 with mobile phones today.
      Just 20 years.

For that matter -- think of the penetration.
I know I didn't even own one in 1993.  Neither did my wife.
Now we have smartphones, and so do our kids.

That said, there are no guarantees, of course. Just look at all the folks waiting breathlessly for the next big battery breakthrough.

So it's usually a hard climb, particularly when it's basic technology.

In fact, there is a push-pull effect to the development of technology and the deployment of it, so we are always looking for the "killer app" that put more brains and $$$ on the job.

But honestly, 3D printing is not the panacea lots of people today think it is.

It's already quite useful for some things and will get better, but there are, and always will be limits, and other tools.

        More tools, the merrier.

        •  Sure...but it's a great demonstrator for the (0+ / 0-)

fallacy of putting all one's faith in regulation.

People are amazingly good at finding new ways to make life miserable.
