  •  What a conundrum for Republicans on immigration, (19+ / 0-)

to do the right thing on immigration (with he hopes of getting Hispanic voters to give them a chance again) and have their base stay home, or to stoke their racist base (to get them to turn out in the elections) and assure that Hispanics will vote against Republicans for generations to come.

What a pity that the Party of Lincoln has become nothing but a home for all bigots to express their hatred, but I love it when the bigots fight each other. Pass the popcorn!

Then they came for me - and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.

Question is, will Rubio be able to adequately fool Latinos by pretending to be for immigration reform (so he can get their votes) while placating the racist base by demanding that Jan Brewer and Rick Perry be installed as the legal "deciders"  of whether the borders are safe enough to let reformed  immigration commence.  Most people can see through claims that you support an issue only if and only if  an impossible condition is met before the proposal can be activated.

for them to piss off the base.  They have them whipped up on the gun issue and revolution is blowing in the right wind(bags). I  can't see how the gee oh pee gets out of this intact.

      Everyone! Arms akimbo!

reported on a study yesterday (I think) that some 40% of Republicans believe armed revolution is in the works.

I don't know if the GOP power players, who have been stoking the insurrectionist impulse amongst the angry white males, in order to get them to the polls, or at least to the gun shops, get that a bunch of overarmed and underinformed yokels running around shooting those whom they take to be dangerous gays or socialists or gun grabbers or commies or immigrants is not going to be good for business in general.

And if they think the armed insurrectionists are going to leave the rich white guys alone in their West Palm Beach mansions to sip wine spritzers and polish their gold Rolexes, they are sorely mistaken.
