  •  amend immigration bill? Rubio flawed messenger? (1+ / 0-)

Current immigration law - and the proposed immigration reform law - would continue US policy that treats Cuban immigrants (like Rubio,Curz, etc.) one way and all other immigrants a different way. Cuban immigrants can legally stay in the US once they touch dry land ("dry feet").  If they are intercepted at sea by the Coast Guard, they are not entitled to stay here legally ("wet feet").  The law treats all other immigrants oppositely - if they arrive in the US they are illegal, period.

Should the immigration bill be amended to treat Cuban immigrants the same as all others?

Is Rubio - a Cuban immigrant who favors the "Cubans are different and are entitled to better treatment" law - a flawed messenger for non-Cuban Hispanics?

Why would any Hispanic identify with "privileged" Cuban immigrant Marco Rubio?

and neither is Ted Cruz.  In right-wing parlance, Rubio would be considered an "anchor baby" - born in the U.S. of immigrant parents.  Ted Cruz's mother was a citizen of this country when he was born.
