    to buy clothes.
    But I used to do much better until recently so have much of what I need already. I haven't bought any clothes in six months, a year if you don't count used clothing (yard sales, Goodwill)

    WHen I was a teenager and first grew into adult women's sizes a pair of pants cost around $20.  I can still buy a pair of pants for that at discount stores (even name brands sometimes). So the price of clothes in my life hasn't changed nearly as much in three decades as the price for other things, it seems.

    To answer the question posited by the diarist, I'd pay 50% more for clothes. They are unaffordable by me anyway. I tend to get them for gifts. So I guess I'm not the one affording it anyway.
