    The official reasons for the rejection of Robert Bork's appointment to the Supreme Court had almost nothing to do with his role in the Saturday Night Massacre; the concerns that the Senators expressed had much more to do with Bork's political philosophy.

    It's possible that there was some element of political revenge involved, which of course the Senators would not have mentioned -- but I doubt this was a major element in the process.

    Let us all have the strength to see the humanity in our enemies, and the courage to let them see the humanity in ourselves.
