I have 2 anemias; pernicious (requiring B-12 injections) and iron deficiency.

Normally you are supposed to get a boost of energy after taking a B-12 injection and I used to, but haven't for years.

That should have been my first clue that something was wrong in the "blood area" - but I thought that I had just gotten used to it.

No boost and no energy even after B-12 injection and didn't know my iron levels were low = blob

    thanks :-)

Eating meat is usually enough for me, but sometimes I get the whacky idea that I should go vegetarian.

I don't know what I'd do if I had two anemias.

      Keep feeling better!

I could eat a whole cow and still not absorb any of the B-12 from it.

Vegetarians do get pernicious anemia but that's only after years and years and if they don't take a supplement with it.  The body will reabsorb the b-12 it uses, and there is very little lost in the cycle.  But again re-absorption happens in the gut and because I don't have intrinsic factor that never takes place - so even the B-12 that I use gets washed out of my body.

        :-)
