  •  Yes, and the free market doesn't even apply (9+ / 0-)

    to health care anyway.

A free market is one where you can not only take your business elsewhere, but you are free to choose not to buy the product at all.

One can't choose not to have a life saving surgery. Thus the gouging.

Sadly, Obama appears to be so ideologically blinded by the free market orthodoxy, that he can't even propose a non-market based solution to a problem caused by the very same market ideology.

    •  Of course you can choose not to have surgery! (0+ / 0-)

      You can die instead!  =D

I'm likely making this up as I go along.

      •  Many more folks will consider doing exactly this (0+ / 0-)

as time goes on. Many do this now, but the numbers will certainly rise. It will be given a name at some point.

        •  You're about to see "Customer-chosen death" (1+ / 0-)

I agree and I think by 2025 you will see huge percentages of the middle class electing not to have expensive surgeries and simply electing what is basically suicide.   Why, you ask, would huge numbers of people choose death?   Because they don't want to live with what would have surely been the financial bankruptcy after the pricey surgery (and the consequential refusal of employers to hire anyone with a bankruptcy for any job).

    •  Bingo. (0+ / 0-)

LG: You know what? You got spunk. MR: Well, Yes... LG: I hate spunk!
