    we pronounce it

    "wis-tah".

    Gloucester is pronounced: "Glaw-stah"

    Liecester is pronounced: "Les-tah"

And here in Newburyport, one of the oldest continuously operating courthouses in the US (1804) is found near the Frog-pond located at the Mall.

Pronounced as if it rhymed with "Pal".

Listening to people try to pronounce New England proper nouns is a wicked pissah to those of us who've lived here long enough to lose our native Bronx accent.
