It's generally accepted as good community behavior (even, or perhaps especially when cross posting from your own blog) to interact with commenters in your diaries when you post them.

I note that you've just recently joined us. So that dk tradition might not yet be clear to you.

    •  Thanks (8+ / 0-)

I did engage with quite a few commenters on my last diary. I appreciate the tip, though. I'm trying to get a grasp of the norms around here. I read every single comment, usually "recommend" the ones I like, and respond to the ones who disagree with me or point out an error.

that the best sorts of conversations really grow out of the really thoughtful diaries (as yours are).  So there's a lot that can be gained from delving in and engaging with your readers.

That's not always the case on the internet, but it's really one of the great advantages of this community, so I always like to let new folks know.

And I saw that you had a lot of engagement with your last diary, so maybe you found that valuable, too...

        Sorry for the tangent.

I found the comments a little overwhelming when I first started posting, because there are so many, and because there are replies to replies to replies and it can be hard to follow it all, but now I'm into it. It's a really vibrant commenting community here, which is awesome.
