Now, how can those of us who live nowhere near Texas help out?

Organ donors save lives! A donor's kidney gave me my life back on 02/18/11; he lives on in me. Please talk with your family about your wish to donate.

Why are war casualty counts "American troops" and "others" but never "human beings"?

Disclaimer: If the above comment can possibly be construed as snark, it probably is.

    •  Something that will definitely help now... (3+ / 0-)

If possible, help spread the word about Battleground Texas through Twitter and Facebook. They are still new and don't yet have nearly enough followers. So many Texas Democrats still haven't heard about BGTX, and that's true of the rest of the country as well.

We have to end-run most of the local media here because they won't cover Democrats. Time after time, the Houston media truly has simply pre-declared victory for Republicans in statewide races (even during the primaries!), and that's true of many other areas of the state as well.

So sharing through social media can truly help to get the word out, not only to Democratic activists and potential donors in Texas but also around the country.

If anyone has the inclination, following the Texas Democratic Party and any of our major county parties (links at bottom of the diary) would also help. We are in the midst of major Democratic party rebuilding here.

Finally, I welcome any ideas that folks care to share. That's one thing I love about DKos—reading diaries and comments about the activism of Kossacks around the country. Speaking for myself, I have a great deal to learn, and reading about organizing and GOTV experiences helps me.

Thank you for asking, Kitsap River.
