  •  Oh, and I get you. Fish aren't my favorite. (4+ / 0-)

But I realized that I'm spoilt; I grew up eating wild local fish that were exquisitely fresh (with the bluegill, they were in the oven ten minutes after Bear beheaded them), and had been cooked by people who knew what they were doing.

I don't like fish on ice out of the case. It never tastes right. And it stinks.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.

    •  Believe me, I had access to fresh seafood (5+ / 0-)

all summer at the beach. Salmon, crab, clams, and a lake across the street stocked with trout.
My Grandfather loved catching rainbow trout, a lot, and brought them home.

Being Catholic didn't help on Fridays!

Just never got past the smell of it cooking, and a really picky appetite.
