    b/c it taught me critical thinking, among other things.

    Should everyone go to college? Hell, no: some people are much happier in other careers. I remember watching a show on the Discovery channel (I think -- it was about 7 years ago) featuring a woman who was a master welder. She was extremely well-spoken, so was obviously educated (although not necessarily college-educated) and equally obviously just loved to weld stuff.

    These careers are not to be discouraged. You can't outsource welders...you can't outsource electricians...and you really can't outsource plumbers.

      does hold true-- provided a student reaches Return point by graduating and paying off student loans.

      But not everyone belongs in college. Many lack the skills and intellectual curiosity to succeed there; many others aren't going to find satisfaction there and will just see college as an ordeal.

      I think the entire nation would benefit if more fewer students went to four-year institutions and more went to junior colleges-- and if the junior colleges focused on providing solid trade and business training. We need to start rebuilding the working middle class.
