    From 1962 on.

There are some compensations, though. I got to see a game live last week, and not only did they win in a 10th-inning walk off, the starter pitched a perfect game into the seventh inning (and ended up with a one-hitter). We won't mention the fact that about half the players on both teams were batting under .200.

My grandmother (who had rooted avidly for the Dodgers, but transferred her affections to the Mets) had bought a tiny TV to watch 'her' Mets in 1968.
Unfortunately she died in the spring of 1969.  Incredibly, the Mets did wonderfully well in 1969 (my Mom and I were lucky enough to go to a couple of games as well as a playoff game) and I've always felt the Mets had one feisty fan giving them some divine intervention all during the year and especially when they won the World Series.

I think, therefore I am........................... Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose....AKA Engine Nighthawk - don't even ask!
