  •  Great pics AZ. (6+ / 0-)

Birds are still drifting in from the south. Saw the first Summer Tanager of the year today, singing his heart out from the top of one of the walnut trees in the yard. No female yet.

Pine siskins are showing no signs of leaving us yet and are still giving the gold flnch flock a hard time at the feeders. Bossy little bullies, good thing they aren't very big.

Our daughters were here for Mother's Day today and we had grandkids all over the place most of the day so I'm enjoying the peace and quiet this evening. My oldest daughter and I were sitting on the back porch, watching the birds at the feeders a good part of the day. She's almost as bird crazy as her old man.... We both had our camera's, she was trying to get a pic of the pileated with the odd plumage that I've posted pics of before and I was hoping for something new. The pileated wasn't co-operating for her. He finally did come in but landed on the back side of the suet feeder and she could only get his head, which looks just like every other pileated head.

But we got a very unexpected surprise when a grey fox crossed the field just below the barn, in broad daylight. Pretty unusual for a grey fox to expose himself like that.
