  •  Our Constitution not only doesn't provide for (0+ / 0-)

    "majority rule", it prohibits it.  If we were a fully democratic state, every eligible person could cast a vote on every bill in congress.  We don't have that.  We have a Republic, where the officials who actually do the voting are elected by the public for that purpose.

    Still, I don't understand your correlation between the process by which a president is chosen (the electoral college), and the infringements upon our individual rights.  Regardless of the manner in which presidents have lately been elected, the rights of the individual continue to be sacrificied for the supposed good of the collective, which is exactly the opposite of Constitutional framers intent.
