with a tone of laughing at your own dismay.  Nice perspective.

Losing files!  Don't ya HATE that when it happens!  And not one file, but TWO!  Dang!

And I suppose you were writing them here, on the dKos screen, where there's no way to save them.

    Bummer!

And btw, re: feuding cats -- ther's this guy, Jackson Galaxy (yes, that's his name) has a show on Animal Planet called 'My Cat From Hell'.  He's a cat behaviorist, and he goes into homes where a cat (or cats) are, well, making life hell for their owners and/or another cat.  The two most usual problems are the 'sudden attack cat' syndrome and/or (ahem) inappropriate urination.  Having seen a bunch of shows, the usual reason for these behaviors is 'territorial insecurity' (turf wars).  He works with the poeple as much as with the cats, teaching the humans (stoopid hoomans!) to understand what the cat needs to feel secure and safe, and getting the SH's to provide changes in the environment.  I find the show really moving.  You see a terrified cat (which sometimes means a bullying cat) transformed into a happy kitty, secure and self-confident.

I'm not saying you need to intervene with your cats, cg2.  Sometimes cats in a shared space have worked out a way to be 'okay, mostly' with occasional outbreaks that soon settle down.  Your description just reminded me of the show, that's all.

When my last two kitties were still living, they had a barely-get-along relationship (due to relative ages & personalities).  The bummer was that, when (in later years) they did have an explosion over turf, it was when they were on me in bed.  And since I have an air mattress (like you'd use for camping), their fights left me, several times, without a bed at two o'clock in the morning.  It only takes one kitty-claw -- even one fleeing from the fight -- to put paid to an air mattress for good!

    •  Oh, my, how did I miss your comment??? (5+ / 0-)

So sorry.  I was raised in a dog family -- meaing, any mutt that found its way into our house got to stay.  I was always leery of cats (for damned good reasons) but once I adopted my first one in 1976, that was the end of my life without cats.

I know they can be adorable, destructive, lethal and unremorseful.  They also have my kind of personality sadly to say.

Hope you had a great day, CroneWit

Mostly here, although spent a good bit of time 'shopping' for Ubuntu software and Chrome extensions.  Just got back online about six weeks ago -- I'm getting my SocSec retirement now, small of course but feels like a fortune, and the first thing I did was sign up with Comcast (winning a $55 fee dispute right off the bat) and get both internet and cable.

When I say 'all day', I mean ALL day -- up around seven-ish and in my chair, haven't left it except to pee or make coffee all day.  No housework done, stiff in all my muscles, and dinner not even in the oven at 8pm.  So yes, I'd call this a good day (except for the all-day sitting, which I'll pay for!)

Sorry about my long silence, but during our bread-baking discussions I was using (ahem) 'freely harvested electrons' from the airwaves, until somebody put protection on their computer.  Just feeling my way back into online activity.

        Best wishes! CW
