  •  I wonder how the country will respond. . . (9+ / 0-)

I am genuinely curious as to how the country will respond to the first person who stands up and says:

"Benghazi is a "scandal" b/c Repubs need a scandal to unleash upon the President, and it appears that if a democratic President gets a second term, it is now in the Republican platform that they will bring impeachment proceedings"

I wonder if a few moderate repubs in the country will not think to themselves, "yes, I am tired of this power game being played" and that the country is 60-75% against it, making the Repubs pay a huge price.

OTOH, there are a lot around here, including me that feel that the Republicans are signaling that they have given up hope of ever being a majority party again and are simply sharpening the tools of how to govern from a minority.

Blessed are the peacemakers, the poor, the meek and the sick. Message to Repug Fundies: "DO you really wonder "what would Jesus do?" I didn't think so.

    •  Republicans may be giving up hope, but they (9+ / 0-)

have no desire to govern; they just want to sabotage.

I believe they have lost all interest in "governing" and are seeking alternate conduits for "power" - one of which is to sabotage others' governing power.

Other "power" areas taken up by Repubs: establishing their own right wing media universe, removing barriers to money in politics, privatization, globalization and free trade. . . .

Governing takes compromise and consensus, it requires outcomes that promote the welfare of many - - they are not the least bit interested in governing.

how the public responds.  Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, Swiftboating, the whole first term, on and on and on --  has the public wised up?  Will they fall for it one more time?

The elevation of appearance over substance, of celebrity over character, of short term gains over lasting achievement displays a poverty of ambition. It distracts you from what's truly important. - Barack Obama
