    Bob Dole was majority leader of the Republican-controlled Senate, he brought IRCA to the floor, and he voted for final passage. It was a bipartisan vote, with neither party controlling the outcome, but a majority of Republicans voted for passage.

    And Saint Ronnie himself signed it into law.

    That law not only provided for employer sanctions -- it also included amnesty for millions of undocumented aliens.

    Pat was communications director for Reagan at the time. Don't know if he ever made comments about this particular law or not -- he spent most of that time period focused on hating Jews so he might not have had the energy to also hate Latinos.
