For secession to happen, you need half of a state legislature to vote for it. yes, many red and even moderate states have gerrymandered right-wingers into power. okay. but even in the deepest of red states, you've still only got one whackadoodle actually introducing  right to secession bills into the legislature. they are not actually advocating secession at that point either. so the right wing is 1/100th of the way to thinking about seceding.

their view is more of trying to take over the existing us government and making it christianity-promoting and winner-take all on the economy, with churches servicing the poor and an abolition of government debt.

    •  not how it went in Syria (0+ / 0-)

Civil war doesn't need to follow the Gentleman's rules of warfare. A few militias start a fire fight, a few more come in to help before the big govt guns get there, and a sympathetic governor who slows down a federal crackdown are all it would take. Or, following the Syria example, just leave out (Rick Perry)  the sympathetic governor and keep it to the underground militia network.
There are valid reasons to fear terrorism that aren't tied to bigotry. And to many, we have already had our Ft Sumter; that was Waco.
