The country is currently driving every single life system and life support system into extinction? And you say it can handle it?

The vast majority of scientific and technical knowledge in our lives today was developed and or employed within this past generation. The vast majority of this country's history bears absolutely no comparison to the world today or, even more importantly, of the next few decades.

Weapons of mass destruction? Drone surveillance. Six cameras on every intersection. More in every pocket on the street? Every phone call and internet keystroke stored and analyzed.

What could history possibly teach us about this place we are in other than that we are ridiculously unqualified for living in this degree of complexity, which is why we are hurtling toward extinction while thinking we're on the road to progress.

The Kochs have nothing in common with Carnegies or the Hapsburgs.

Hell things are incredibly different just since 9/11. We have large swaths of the population who care little for the fact that the Bill of Rights has been gutted. THAT'S new.

Ah, this isn't even worth writing.

From here on out, no one can escape the havoc wrought by the unmitigated Class, Climate and Terror Wars.

The fact that you actually wrote that tells me you have no historical perspective.  The notion that "now" is so unique is the fatal thinking that has ruined many.
