  •  Interesting during the Reagan administration (7+ / 0-)

Conservatives had no problem with the IRS questioning the authenticity of a non-profit group who wanted to promote evidence based science education.

I guess selective memory is what the GOP does.

    •  We're all aware that they're hypocrites. (9+ / 0-)

That's stipulated by all parties present.

      Now, what are we?

        of accountability.

What most people miss is that the IRS is run by accountants, who are highly likely to be sticklers for accounting rules and tax law. This wasn't personal, this was about the tax laws. Some bean counter in Cincinnati saw a trend that in there mind, looked shifty. So, they pursued it.

The IRS has always pursued their thing despite the current administration's political party. Do I like this current scandal? No, but I think it has less to do with conservative vs. progressive politics as it does have to do with an accountant pursuing money that they believe belongs to the U.S. general fund. In this case, it's in making sure the 5014c's are following the rules. Nothing more, nothing less.

Is it wrong to pursue someone simply because of their name? Yes, but after working with accountants for 25 years, I get how it happened.

My hubby calls himself a reverse Robin Hood stealing from the government to give to the rich. Its a game of loopholes
that the rich can afford to play but the rest of us can't.

Most of the clients are rich Republicans that appreciate his
efforts. He won't lie or steal for them. He won't take on
clients who do shady off-shore tax evasion schemes.
He just looks for clever tax schemes that are legal and work.
