    The Tea Parties like to style themselves as somehow being anti-establishment.   Of course that's a fraud, but it seems karmic that they pay the prices actual anti-establishment organization does.  And this is certainly one of them.

    MB mentions the best-known cases of IRS encroachment on "progressive" or left organizations.  The reason many of the other cases are less known is that the organizations were either more radical, more poor and working class, or both.  Less "presentable" from a marketing point of view.  There are many left organizations that have their tax-exempt status taken, or at least challenged or threatened.

    I wish I could believe that there was a consistent rule of law in this country, then I could see good things actually coming from this.  Unfortunately, I don't believe there's a transpolitical "rule of law" with a related power of precedent that would extend judgments of relief in favor of TPs to the rest of us.
