  •  That's not at all disturbing. (6+ / 0-)

This is the email I composed for him:

So, Ed, is the name of your company designed to craft an acronym? Are you wanting to draw attention to some sort of military prowess? Does it matter if that purported prowess is undermined by a demonstrated lack of spelling prowess?

You see, in school, we learned "I" before "E" except after "C". I don't see a "C" anywhere in your acronym, which I can only assume, given all the hints at your website, is intended to be "SIEGE". Siege, however is not equal to "seige". It is in fact an anagram, which is a strictly constructional comparison of one series of letters to another. Neither has to be an actual word.

In your case, one of them is an actual word. Unfortunately, you did not choose the one that is as your target acronym.

So, when I'm in need of some siege services, should I contract with someone who knows how to spell it, or should I take potluck and ignore warning signs apparent to all?

I haven't sent it. When the bear's slogan is "peace through violence" it may be prudent not to poke it.
    •  Don't bother to send it. (2+ / 0-)

I tried to send the following on their "contact" form:

Did you really develop your acronym before finding out how "siege" is spelled?

Sheesh.  Talk about "ready, fire, aim."

When I clicked "send," an e-mail popped up through my Outlook with Ed's address in the "to" box.

No idea if they got my message via the contact form or if I really have to send an e-mail.

    •  The "I before E" rule is not actually valid. (0+ / 0-)

Notice that the word "Foreign" early in the sign doesn't have a C in it.  It really only applies to words where those letters make the long E sound, and even then there are exceptions (like species).
