Markey should have a bigger lead at this point and I do think there is room for an upset. That said, this poll does look a bit better than their first and brings it closer into line with him having decent, but not insurmountable lead. The best takeaway from the poll for me was that he appears to be solidifying Dems, which suggests that Lynch supporters are coming home. Also, he gets more GOP crossover than Gomez gets Dem crossover. Let's hope this is the start of a trend.

I think when all the leaners who actually will show up to vote are counted, Markey's probably up 8-12. I do expect Markey to solidify his support among Dems, but losing the unenrolleds (a group from whom I have less and less respect each day) by more than 20 is not great.

The oddball WNEU polls during the primary season tried out the potential general election matchups and found Markey leading Gomez by a lot more. But Gomez got a bump from the primary win.

The big issue will be turnout in a June special election.

Republicans...think the American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire the Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it. Harry S. Truman

special or not - for the foreseeable future.  If Democrats don't work their adorable asses off in every election until the Republican party locates its sanity, we're in danger of repeats of 2010.
