    the power of fascist ideology. All the points you make about the strategy of divide and conquer were equally true in the 1930's. This didn't stop millions from becoming ardent believers in the "gospel" preached by Hitler, Mussolini and others.

    The fascist impulse is a material, autonomous force in human history. The rich and powerful will attempt to use it for their own purposes but we shouldn't fool ourselves into believing that it has no appeal independent of their sponsorship.

    Nothing human is alien to me.

      time and again.  They'll follow a black President while he cuts social security and food stamps and expands the Imperialist military machine.  The propaganda paints the picture and divides the people, it's meant to be that way.  I'm not afraid of my neighbor, I'm afraid of those controlling our government.
      But I know we disagree on that.
