    The gripe I had with BOTH of the most recent movies is that they're not character-based anymore. They're just SFX eye candy. We don't CARE about these once-beloved characters anymore because the real characters simply aren't there anymore.

    And sadly I think the same thing will happen with the Star Wars franchise as well.  Lots of eye candy, lots of frantic fast-paced action--and no story, theme, characters, or emotion.

    I would SOOOOOO much prefer to see someone like Joss Whedon making these films--someone who understands that the FX and action scenes supplement the story and characters, not replace them.
