  •  The current state of our politics does not bode (16+ / 0-)

    well for any significant political action to address climate change happening any time soon  That's why I like the approach of and their divestment movement.  We need to go "beyond politics" and attack the money flow.  Big business is driving the agenda and they respond to money flows.  Pulling the money flow out of fossil fuel investment and into non-polluting renewable energy development and efficiency improvements can do an end around our log jammed political system.

    We also need to seriously address the accepted as fact notion in economic circles that measurements of consumption are synonymous with economic vitality. Consumption is wealth dissipation not wealth generation.  

    Things look bleak right now but I'm not one of those bend over and kiss my ass goodbye types.  There is lots that can be done and when the shit hits the fan the change can happen rapidly.  We cannot avoid the built in damage we've already done.  That's the price we each pay for our stupidity and inaction going back to President Carters Crisis of Confidence speech but there is hope if we think and act "beyond politics" IMHO.  

    If we really want to straighten out all this crap we really need to think about shit - Holy Shit.
