  •  My school is relocating for two years (10+ / 0-)

we have been given exactly one day to pack everything up after classes end and three, possibly four (if promised 1 of 7 furlough days is restored) days to move in during pre-planning, unless everyone works for free on the non furloughed days.

There will be a lot of that over the summer guaranteed but my school is mitigating that somewhat by using our accrued aftercare funds to pay a few of us that want to put in eight hour days for the summer getting the classrooms and the rest of the temp building ready for the new school year.

I NEED to do that for monetary and just plain easing of stress reasons. I cannot imagine bringing 700 kids into an unprepared building full of tense, unrested, and unprepared teachers.

There will be emails marked URGENT from the county about using that aftercare money for purposes other than educating kids but I think we will prevail in our argument that it is precisely for the kids that we do this. Hoping so anyway because I'm doing that work and it would be nice to be compensated for it.
