    I just remember reading how hard it was to pass parts of the New Deal because the SCOTUS felt government didn't have the authority. The same was true of the income tax at some point.

    I guess I feel a strong central government is necessary to preventing corporate excess as well as having authority to ensure all its citizens have health care, income security, & so forth.

    Of course, strong governments can do bad things as well as good things. I just think they are less likely to do that than corporations (who are motivated only by profit)..

    Just my take :)

      I just think they are less likely to do that than corporations (who are motivated only by profit)
      as long as the government is under the control of the people and truly represents their best interest, that works.  it's when the mechanism of the people's control becomes inoperative that the problems start.
