response. I really did. No kidding.

I'll be the last person who ever says that you have to believe in God(s) to be a good person. But I'll be the first person who is a theist to say that some of my fellow theists are deeply interested in being their brothers' and sisters' keepers (and not in a right wing way), very interested in civil rights and quality of living, and wages, and other things of a social justice nature.

Dorothy Day and Peter Mourin were interested in that, and they were Roman Catholics. Dr. King was ordained clergy. I could go on and on.

Here on Daily Kos I think we should stop sniping at one another, the religious and the atheist. Mostly, we're all in agreement. Sadly, however, the difference is that there are people here--lots of them, and around the country as well--who are progressives BECAUSE of their faith, not in spite of it. We get together all the time.

I will say this, and it's not a dig on you, but while some of us get up on Sunday morning to make the world a better place and that some of us happen to be progressive Christians, I'd ask my atheist and non-observant friends this question: "Who's saving the world sleeping in when you could be organizing?"

I gotta go to bed, I have Mass in the morning. I'm glad we had this discussion though. Thanks.

I resent that. I demand snark, and overly so -- Markos Moulitsas.
