and how what he said was not what we thought he said - trixy.   He really clearly had a plan.  So now we have months to guess the new plan - and probably again miss the completely obvious.

Because if Clara was "born to save the Doctor", and didn't see John Hurt until the very end that means that that was the one time when the Doctor WASN'T saved.

And there's another play on words. To "save" the Doctor.

where we don't know what or who the Doctor was - and as the Doctor said - nothing he did was in the Doctor's name.  So... Time Wars I think. And that wasn't the Doctor, that was the Gallifreyan dude who is the Doctor most of the time.

that he's the "True Ninth" and that Eccleston was the Tenth--meaning Smith is actually the Twelfth.

          Meaning here comes the Valeyard.

so I'm not buying that. :P  Smith is 11.  And besides, he's got all of River's regenerations.

          •  eh, Valeyard is so tricky to deal with (0+ / 0-)

because it's been hammered around a couple times in canon already.  but Moffat has been bringing back the classics - the Great Intelligence, the Ice Warriors... so i can see him going for it as well.  But we have to accept that the fall of the 11th was at Trenzalor - so Matt is the true 11 - and aware of this one who acted, but not in the name of The Doctor.  So it could be the Valeyard - but that timeline has been screwed over a number of times - and we know time can be rewritten unless it's a specific fixed point - and we don't know the Valeyard's time is fixed - we've seen him in the past up to no good.
