Of course, it would be nice to live in a sane state. North Carolina was sane. We had the mid-term in 2010 and Dems lost the state house and a slick GOP governor got elected in 2012, but there is a lot of good here, and more worth saving.
I live on two acres with a solar home. My son is going into high school in the fall, and to leave here, sell house at a loss and move to a condo in traffic hell DC-suburbs is NOT what I want, even if it means fighting devolution for a few years.
This does not mean I don't despair several days out of every week.

It is son's last week of school and with no backup parent during the week, I have promised him I would not get arrested and leave him in the care of neighbors. We also have a friend's son arriving that week from Japan. I promised to keep the boy safe while he attends a sports camp here, and being in jail would be uncomfortable to explain to my friends.
I will try to find a way to support the civil disobedience. Something I can do from home, maybe?

        •  Bring Tai and your friend's son to the march (0+ / 0-)

No chance of arrest; most supporters are outside the General Assembly building. Only a couple hundred come inside. Those who choose to be arrested stay on the second floor; spectators who choose to come inside are generally on the third floor. Everyone else is outside on the Bicentennial Mall by the science museum with signs (signs are forbidden inside the GA).

Could be a great lesson in civics and history.
