and severity.  To say climate change has not affected hurricanes because of Galveston misses the point of climate change.

You note in this article which doubts the effects of climate change still makes the point that there is so much that we don't know coupled with different reporting systems for adverse events makes it difficult to assert a causal relationship

The jury is out on exactly what climate changes cause but there is no argument that the climate is changing and more than likely so will weather phenomenon

I agree, entlord.  All weather now happens in a warmer world with higher levels of CO2 in the atmosphere.  So the weather/climate at 400 ppm is different from what it would have been (and was) at 350 ppm, and not in a good way. There's no need to prove a link with individual storms. There is a link between climate change and all weather.

post links to bolster my point. I have been observing climate change since the original El Nino and La Nina back in the 80's.  It is what we farmers do

is that another one of those things we are losing as we modernize and Industrialized Ag defines the culture and practice of farming now?

I'll trust your farmer's observational skills on this one, I think.  Thanks for sharing it.

read and write but could judge the weight of a bale of cotton by eye and tasted soil to see what amendments were needed.

For myself I know every inch of my fields, including the various soil types, which weeds grow there and which way the water flows.

Farming 1000 acres or more takes that away from an operator

This line of argument is rapidly falling by the wayside as more and better research about extreme weather and climate change is forthcoming.

At the accuweather link for example we read:
"There is no strong evidence to support severe weather becoming stronger, more frequent or more widespread during the past 50 years in the United States as a result of climate change."

This statement is just plain wrong.

      Read here:
      http://thinkprogress.org/...

      And here:
      http://www.realclimate.org/...

"New studies, such as Petoukhov et al., (2013), are emerging in the scientific literature that provide additional support for a link between climate change and a wider range of extreme phenomena."
