Wool by Hugh Howey.  Definitely rec this one.  Very good read IMO.  Also finished the audiobook version of A History of the World in 6 Glasses by Tom Standage.  Also good.

Just started Itch: the Explosive Adventures of an Element Hunter by Simon Mayo (BBC Radio 2 and Radio 5live presenter).  This is his first book.  It's the first in a young adult series about a teen by the name of Itchingham Lofte who lives in Cornwall and is a big science geek whose goal is to collect samples of all the elements on the periodic table.  Trouble begins when he comes across a mysterious rock that turns out to be a new element.  I'm a fan of Mayo's radio shows and both me and my teen daughter were interested in the premise of the book.  She's going to read it after I'm done with it.

Also just started the audiobook version of John Scalzi's Fuzzy Nation which is a re-boot (his words) of H. Beam Piper's Little Fuzzy.  Never read that one and I really don't know what this is about, but I've liked the other Scalzi books that I read so I gave this a try.
