Not like this crap bill will pass the House.

So no point in getting all worked up over it.

However, the minute it goes down in flames you can be certain that it will be used as a cudgel to beat the living shit out of the GOP among the Latino community.  If you get them fired up and get them to turn out even slightly higher than normal then you put many more districts in play that would not necessarily be in play in off year elections.

If the Dems flip 17 seats and hold the Senate, reform the filibuster rules then you can be sure that a better plan will pass.

If the Dems DON'T get the House in 2014, then they have a very potent issue in 2016 which will help them not only likely keep the presidency and maybe flip the House but also potentially flip many seats in the Senate and depending on the outcome of 2014 maybe even get above the 60 vote threshold imposed by the ratfucks in the GOP.

This is all political.  So giving up some things like allowances for same sex couples in the Senate Bill is small potatoes if it means the Dems gain the House.  After that they can push a better bill with those allowances in and Orrin Hatch can then go fuck himself.

With all due respect, same-sex bi-national couples have been discriminated against by our immigration system since, well, forever. Thanks so much for letting me know that you're ok if my partner and I (and the other estimated 36,000 same-sex bi-national couples living in the US, with untold thousands living abroad) have to wait until 2014, or 2016, or whenever it is that things pan out for us, to finally be treated equally. With friends like you ...

Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.
