  •  "free market" is a euphemism. (6+ / 0-)

It stands for either getting free goods (natural resources) and taking them to market for a profit -- i.e. the activities on which commercial middlemen (neither producers, nor users) thrive -- or it stands for the arena where the "marks" get fleeced.

That said, the real problem is that because Congress rations the states' common currency, all our decisions down the line have to be based on the availability of dollars. And, as we all know, rationing leads to hoarding. So, Congress habit of making something that isn't artificially scarce is aggravated by the financial middlemen holding on to their stash and trying to increase it however possible.

Why is there resistance to federal tax collection? Because everybody knows that sending dollars to Washington leads to them being used to intimidate and coerce. That's what Congress does. Why? Because our legislative public servants don't want to serve. They want to be law-givers and rulers and to use dollars to make us obey. Congress is what gives government a bad name.

      Was that your intent?

I see resistance to federal tax collection coming from the wealthy making claims about the large dollar amounts of taxes they pay without referencing the small percentage it represents compared to the much larger dollar amounts of their income.

Yes, there is also a general resistance to paying taxes but the little guy is being manipulated.  When he votes for a candidates offering tax cuts, he may gain a few dollars relief.  But the wealthy man that helps write the tax laws will get a very much larger part of the gains.

I screwed up with a careless uprate so I'm a "No Rate" pariah. When I give a comment "+4 n/t", please consider that a recommend. (That's my workaround to participate here). DK haiku, one complete thought in a title field. Roar louder! NR since 3/7/12.

The members of the three branches and all subsidiary corporations are AGENTS of government. We, the people, govern.
TheCongress is tasked with managing the currency. They're doing a bad job of it. Delegating it to the Federal Reserve was an abrogation of responsibility or obligation. Is it the fault of the Fed? No. Congress maintaining the fiction that dollars either have to be first collected from the populace or borrowed from investors before they can be spent on public works is the problem. They've got which comes firsthand which comes second reversed.
