    And if real scientific analysis shows that the concrete buildings can withstand an EF5, then fine. But for everywhere else, yes, build the shelter or the safe room. Remember, six of the 40 homes built in Moore since 1999 have them, so obviously it can be done. See the examples above (homes in FL after Hurricane Andrew, mandatory safety measures in every car) that show that sometimes safety measures must be mandated.

    Because I believe in the common good, perhaps some of that money can come from elsewhere in the U.S. But realistically, yes, Oklahomans may need to raise the taxes to make this happen, especially on the wealthy. My argument is about what is the right thing to do, I didn't say it would be easy to convince people to do it.

    This isn't about Okies being stupid. It's about conservatism being wrong-headed, and too many people buying into it. But yes, conservatism is wrong-headed.
