I think the implicit plea for equal treatment in MARRIAGE EQUALITY is important, and I use that phrase. But the phrase is also a bit nebulous. SAME-SEX MARRIAGE more blatantly points out that the issue is about allowing members of the same gender to marry, and I refuse to shy away from that. Thus, I use that phrase as well. GAY MARRIAGE simply doubles down on that. It announces that marriage equality is about gays marrying other gays of the same gender. It is more in your face. And I refuse to stop using the phrase for that reason. I want gay men and women to be able to marry members of the same sex, and the reason they should be able to do so is the same reason I am able to marry of the opposite sex - my sexual identity is the driving force behind the gender of those to who I am attracted and with whom I wish to partner.

I think all three phrases are useful. That is why I use all three phrases.

Don't like it? Too bad. I don't like ALL CAPS demands for me to use the phrase you prefer.
