  •  That was unfamiliar to me. (0+ / 0-)

    Thanks.

    •  I'm not sure how much you know about Tool (0+ / 0-)

but I, obviously, just love them to death.  They are hard to categorize as they are a mix of metal and progressive rock and I can understand how many people would not care for the "hardness" of their sound, especially the women that may still be reading this thread.

But there is an undeniable beauty in work.  As they put it in Schism:

"The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it
      Finding beauty in the dissonance

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication"

The music, the subject matter and the words are so dark and complex and yet so utterly filled with a pleading soulful hope.  They acknowledge the absolute worst that man is capable of and exhort us to work together to build a better future.    Yeah, they speak to me and I wish they had a wider audience.  (And I wish they would finish their next album....boys, it's been awhile.)

      •  Bless your heart, (0+ / 0-)

        I'm a 68-year-old person of the female persuasion. ;)

But I'm still cool, just not cool enough to know who/what Tool is.

        Thanks for filling me in.
