until we have gulags, ovens, ghettos we should just let our government do what they want.

Nope, we have to nip this one in the bud.  It is our FIRST GODDAMN AMENDMENT!

Call your representative and senators and the white house (lack of capitalization intended) to STOP this crazy warmongering with Iran, please.

    •  Bob, you sound like the RKBA people (0+ / 0-)

      talking about the 2nd amendment.

Conservatives need to realize that their Silent Moral Majority is neither silent, nor moral, nor a majority.

When any administration, D or R, goes after our core constitutional protections, even in subtle ways, I get pissed.

What happens when the next Republican President goes after the other parts of the 1st, freedom of association, speech, imposing a certain religion?

        •  It's your false assumption that they will, (0+ / 0-)

encoded in the word when, that makes your question unanswerable

The fact is, the press has never been exempt from laws involving breaches of national security, and the Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld bans and censorship in those respects.  They've also overruled government intrusion when national security was not at stake (Near v Minnesota, the Pentagon Papers case, etc).

Read about the Office of Censorship during World War 2.  Did you know they used to open people's mail?  The slope is not always slippery, my friend.  In fact, it isn't always even a slope.
