    This happened to me and my husband.  The "broker" kept trying to cut me out of the conversation; I refused.  Finally he told my husband that it was better if he only dealt with one of us, and it made sense that the "one" would be my husband.

    I knew it was sexism; I also thought it was because I made the inexcusable mistake of researching the companies he suggested and expressing doubt.

    Who were these sure-fire winners that only the "man of the house" would know enough to invest in?  Enron. Global Crossing. WorldCom.  You get the picture.

    And the company he worked for?  Not exactly fly-by-night at the time. Smith Barney.

    Just because the government keeps a record of real property transfers, it doesn't mean that the government wants to confiscate your home.
