  •  No word of condemnation for the murderers? (15+ / 0-)

Not one word of condemnation in this diary for the brutal murderers  but plenty of condemnation for the USA.
We sure know who's at fault for every bad thing in the world, don't we?

It took me quite a few years to register here after lurking for years.  Part of the reason is the blame America firsters here.  It still makes me queasy and sometimes question my membership here.  I wouldn't have friends in my life like these people nor would I even break bread with them.  Hell, I wouldn't even call 911 if they were busy getting their heads chopped off by religious lunatics.

I´m really surprised at reactions (by US readers) in this diary. I didnt see a mention of the US or USA in the diary, rather of "the Western World". Thats not outright specific, sure, but if some American sees that as a reference to the US then I would question their perceptions, not those of the diarist.

Let alone condemnation. If anything gets condemned here then it is class rule, which cuts across nations. The diary talks of "Many western governments". How that can be construed as anti-american beats me.

      •  thanks. but you're (0+ / 0-)

not going to get anywhere ... and i understand it.

it's hard for us humans to have the scale of thought to really understand how cheap clothes, for one example, ends the lives of over 700 people in a country far away... and then multiply that by all those decisions we make to buy an SUV et al and these unseen unknown foreign people having to accept horrible conditions for the benefit of the western world's desire for cheap...

nobody ever asked them to look at it and now that we must, it's hard to understand because most of us are not bad people and we give to charity and we help a lost dog............

Someone who's always wrong, always to blame for everything, always at fault, always bad
It keeps you from having to think very hard

          •  why are you making this about Americans? (0+ / 0-)

            i'm not. well, not entirely.

i see the corporations, politicians, and heads of old ruling families as the terrorists. their way to wealth is via death and destruction.

we Americans and those humans anywhere on the globe,  if we want to change the trajectory, must understand our role in this mess: ie, CHEAP goods are killing us and the rest of the planet.

and, for good measure, let's stop making drug dealers rich. stop making arms dealers rich. stop buying cheap plastics that are thrown away in six months. and on and on...

if we want a better world, then we need to make more responsible choices in spending our money (where and on what) and even things like showing up for school board elections.

just an example: industrial farming is a horror show for animals. why is this okay? is it worth cheap meat to allow animals to suffer in this way and, on top of it, to be filled with antibotics and hormones that are bad for humans? how many levels does a thing need to suck at before we turn away from it?

it's a way of understanding the world ... whether its Islam or "the Western World" or "immigrants... that hurts too many people.

the way we weaponize our fear against the other...
