    The 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits forced labor, contains a caveat:

    "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
    Thus, in U.S. prisons slavery is legal -- and the use of American slaves by large corporations is a growing phenomena that sends money directly to the top.
