    I wondered about the use of that word as in my inner vocabulary it means semi-transparent (as in trans = across + lucent = light), and read it as if the kids were either ghosts or aliens. Then I considered that some Native Americans initially thought Europeans were ghosts, and some still do consider them aliens.
    Then I find out from an otherwise rather spiteful commenter that Transluscia is a village in the Caucasus. I love it when words slide around on the page like that.
