  •  Well.... (4+ / 0-)

Hope for the best for 'Jim'.
Healthcare costs in this Country are outrageous.
He was very lucky, though it probably doesn't seem like it.
I have insurance through my place of work.  That's good.
I'm one of the fortunate ones who do.  It isn't the gold-plated kind, but it's something.  Lucky me.
I can't afford to go to the doctor.  That's bad.  Not lucky me.
    And I'm not alone.
I don't live in a place where something like 'Healthy San Francisco' exists.  I make too much (hahahahahaha) to qualify for anything, except 'make your payment, now'.
So I have insurance, but can't afford to use it and a hospital visit or an illness will bankrupt me.  Did I mention I work for a Fortune 500 Company who brags about it's placement in the '500' (it's pretty high up there!).  And yet, it pays its' employees crap.  Those same employees who make it possible for the company to be among the '500'.
And that's life in the good ol' USA.
Something MUST be done, and I don't just mean the enactment of Obamacare, which is a good start, but just not enough.

I think, therefore I am........................... Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose....AKA Engine Nighthawk - don't even ask!
