I could count the legislators who tried to help on one hand, probably. Aside from Donna Edwards coming down to DC Occupy, who else spoke up for us? Maybe Alan Grayson?

You see, it was a touchy thing for them because in part we were protesting against the undue influence of Wall St on Washington--and "Washington," right then, included a Democratic Senate and most particularly a Democratic White House, part of whose responsibility was to oversee the SEC which was supposed to oversee Wall St. Oh, and did I forget to mention, oversee the DOJ which was supposed to investigate Wall St.

Therefore Occupy Wall St, though not explicitly an anti-Obama movement--indeed there were Obama supporters in that movement along with all sorts of other people--was an uncomfortable thing for Dems to support. If the crash and subsequent protests had happened in fall of 07 or 08 they would have been all over the park waving flags.

"When people spin this in partisan terms to obfuscate the truth, it does a real disservice to normal people not in the big club in DC. Many of them will be hurting...That is why I write."--priceman
