  •  TV in our house... (8+ / 0-)

Since I have a 10 year girl, an almost 18 year old boy, and 3 adult nerds in the house, we have 3 cable boxes. The kids each have an older (over 6 year old) 19 inch TV in their rooms. Bit likes Disney channel and HUB, animal planet and PBS. Draco likes Discovery, History, Science, Animal planet sometimes, and USA shows (Burn Notice, for example) as well as Daily Show and Colbert Report. We also get music stations, so he puts his TV on the Alternative or Rock stations and has both nightlight and music at night when he goes to bed. They have their own TV's so there's less arguing over what's on, and because Bit's shows drive the rest of us insane! (How much Wizards of Waverly Place can one watch without losing it??) I've watched enough of the shows to deem them 'safe', and sometimes Caedy watches some that interest her. But on a daily basis, no thanks.

We have a 36 inch, easier for my other half to see, TV in the living room that my MIL bought us when our old one died. Now there are some things we watch together, such as Dr. Who, STNG (from 10-12 on BBC America), Burn Notice and Tanked are also usually a whole family affair. Some shows the adults like and the kids don't, like Copper (not kid friendly), Bones, etc. Some one kid or the other will watch with us depending on their tastes.
Now my other half tends to click through more, because he can't see the guide on the TV. I use either the guide on the TV or the TV Guide page on the computer. Bit uses the computer TV Guide then programs her TV channels for the day, but she has her favorite stations memorized (she also has her own edited Guide on her TV).
