  •  It seems to me that a Democratically controlled (11+ / 0-)

House gives Democrats in the Senate more power and Republican Senators less.

The Republicans in the House and the Senate have hardly been operating separately. They've been playing a destructive, traitorous game for years and it needs to be stopped.

33 Senate races are going to be decided on next year. We can't afford to not fight like hell for any of them, even those in red, red, states.

    •  But they can't defeat Obama's plan to cut SS (6+ / 0-)

Why doesn't he take it off the table?

      •  Wish I had an answer to that, Betty. (5+ / 0-)

        I truly do.

He has nothing to lose and everything to gain by dumping a bad idea.  He's on the verge of having the GOP use it to make him look bad.

          •  With what? (3+ / 0-)

The Paul Ryan Budget that the House passed in April in which they made devastating cuts to Social Security, tore the heart out of Medicaid, and basically ended Medicare?

Yes, no one likes or wants to see CPI on the table. But to think that gives Republicans a winning hand is I think missing the larger picture of the much greater damage the Republicans are dying to inflict on SS and other programs.

            •  The Rs are incredibly weak, but can still win (0+ / 0-)

If Ds like Obama keep proposing unpopular Republican policies.

Not enough people are thinking outside the two-party mindset yet.  Eventually, enough people will, and we'll get massive third party votes.  However, until then, people disgusted by lying Democrats will vote Republican or stay home.

Which is bad because the Republicans are openly anti-democratic and I keep expecting them to cancel elections.   Now, even that won't stop the political realignment -- but it will slow down the coming change for a decade or two and make it much bloodier, so I'd rather avoid it.

            •  A Wall Street agenda isn't going to win (0+ / 0-)

Voters are sick and tired of Wall Street running Main Street and they know both parties are allowing it at the national level.

The Wall Street agenda has been a miserable failure for the voting public, its time to run on issues that build up the middle class instead of pushing greater income disparity.
